Consumer Protection Act

This Act has been signed by the President of South Africa, but only comes into force on the 24th October 2010. Before you heave a sigh of relief and put this into the "later" box the reason it has such a long implementation time is because there is so much to do to make businesses compliant with this legislation. This Act redefines the law of delict and contract in South Africa and has a significant impact on labelling of food, particularly genetically modified ingredients (s24(6)).
